Mr Chases recension av häxan:
3. The Witch
Just so that you shouldn't think that all that Buffy slays are vampires, here we get an instalment of, you guessed it -- a witch! Actually many episodes deals not with vampires at all but with a whole bunch of other supernatural beings, which Giles for some reason is very excited about. Even Angel is absent, not that I'm mourning about that.
Anyway, it deals with a former cheerleading mom trying to relive her glory days literally through her daughter, casting nasty spells at her competitors. You might say that one of her victims, Cordelia, kind of deserved it because she was really nasty and menacing to Amy, the daughter/mother (whatever) cheerleader hopeful. Absolutely nothing redeeming about the Queen Bitch here and we get an early glimpse of her poor driving skills. But the sports bra -- mmm, good!
Speaking of good -- Buffy in a cheerleader outfit! Wow! But I digress, this episode is not of a star quality but then again it would be hard to top of the excellent pilot.
Spolier s2ep16 etc
And we are introduced to Amy, who will return in a couple of later episodes.
This is also when Willow calls the gang the "Slayerettes" and Xander gets to make one of his funniest lines ever: "I laugh in the face of danger. Then I hide until it goes away." And Giles comparing cheerleading to a cult! ROTFL. I sorts of agree with him because up here in the snowy North the concept of "scantily clad girls in revealing postures" cheering on a game seems slightly ridiculous, if nice to look at.
All in all, not too bad but without the cheerleading motif it would probably be worse IMHO.
Rupert Giles: "I'll be back in the Middle Ages."
Miss Calendar: "Did you ever leave?"
