"David Boreanaz says "No" to TV movies"

Let the gnashing of the (sharp) teeth begin. Since the WB cancelled Angel months ago, fans have campaigned to have the series resurrected in some form. The latest rumours suggest as many as six made-for-tv movies next season. But in an interview with the Star yesterday, David Boreanaz who plays Angel, said: "No. Big screen opportunity, yeah, but I would say that's the only way," when asked abut continuing Angel. Läste också det om Ripper idag men har läst någon på nå't annat ställe att Joss skulle satsa på Firefly-filmen först så Ripper ligger nog rätt långt fram i tiden

Jag är nog ganska glad iaf jag vill, som jag har sagt tidigare, inte ha några stand alone filmer som bara håller oss på halster.. .hellre ett ordentligt slut och sedan kanske en spin-off om några år.

Är inte heller så besviken. Har ställt in mig på att Angel är över och på att fristående tv-filmer bara skulle göra ont (miniserie... helt annan sak). S6 hade dock varit underbart.

Jag är så nöjd med slutet på Buffy att jag inte är säker på att jag vill "spela" med den fina avslutningen...

Spekulation om slutet på Angel s5 (lite spoilers fram till s19)

I början ville jag att Buffy skulle gästa i Angel under s5 men sedan insåg jag att de aldrig skulle låta henne välja Spike ändå (det måste stå öppet...) så då föredrar jag att de låter Spike säga i sista avsnittet att han skall besöka Buffy (de kan ju iofs sabba allt ikväll med "The girl in question" jag måste säga att jag är ganska nervös... är det dåligt kommer jag att låtsas att hela s5 är en dålig au fan-fic )

Angelic Words: First, the good news. I spoke with Garth Ancier, the new CEO of the WB, and he says he's committed to trying to bring Angel back in teleflick form. When I asked if he agreed with the decision to cut Angel loose, he replied: "I wasn't there. I don't know what choices the network really had in terms of new programming. But I certainly recognize and appreciate the loyal fan base of that show. We've had serious conversation to do some Angel movies, and that's a definite way to go, as long Joss Whedon and David Boreanaz ultimately feel that they want to embrace that as well."

According to insiders, the movies could each focus on one of the characters, seeing what happened to them after we last left off--possibly because David might not be as willing as the other castmembers.

I asked Ancier if he thinks this will actually happen. "Probably...I think so," he answered. "I haven't had a conversation with the creative forces yet, but I'm hopeful that will happen. I think the fans would love it. The show was great quality, and I don't know the specifics of why it's back or not, but if there's a way to keep it alive for the huge fan base, that would be great."

De verkar ju vara extremt heta på filmer. Ingen kan förstå logiken i att lägga ner en serie och sen direkt efter ha filmer men ok då...

Lite svårt att hitta en passande tråd för detta, samtidigt som en ny tråd känns helt onödigt. Så jag nöjer mig med att lägga in denna Matt Roush-fråga (tvguide.com) här:

Do you believe that WB ever had any interest in the idea of telemovies for Angel or are they frantically dissembling? I, for one, would be very interested in a telemovie showcasing the prodigious talents of Mr. James Marsters, reprising the role of Spike. I'm very surprised that WB claims never to have considered this idea as likely to be popular. What are your thoughts on this matter? — Carrie

When WB let Angel get away — a mistake if you look at the network's current impoverished landscape — the suggestion of possible movies revisiting the Angel or Buffy worlds was no doubt lip service intended to assuage the grief of Joss Whedon fans everywhere. (Didn't work.) And since Joss has for the moment suspended his TV operations, it's pretty clear that this was a pipe dream at best, but more likely just hollow PR from WB with no basis in reality. Of course I'd like to see a Spike movie, or series, or even just have him show up in an episode of something random. But I'm not counting on it.

Inte för att jag trott på tv-filmer, eller ens velat ha dem (för det har jag inte), men det är i alla fall skönt att se att WB fuckade upp rejält då de lade ner Angel. Vi har ju vetat det hela tiden naturligtvis, men kul att det skrivs av en populär skribent som Matt Roush. Take that and sod off, WB!
