Writer-producer Tim Minear has inked a new two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.
Under the seven-figure pact, Minear will work on existing 20th TV series and develop new drama projects for the studio.
He serves as consulting producer on 20th TV's new drama "Dollhouse," reuniting with the show's creator Joss Whedon, with whom he worked on "Firefly" and "Angel."
"Tim is very versatile; he can go to any show and make it better," 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. "We truly believe that there is a hit show in him, and we weren't prepared to let him go and do it somewhere else."
Minear has been at 20th TV for more than a decade, with stints on such series as "The X-Files," "Strange World," "Angel," "Firefly," "Wonderfalls" as well as "The Inside" and "Drive," which he co-created. But with his deal at 20th TV coming up, he didn't consider a change of scenery.
"Why go elsewhere at this point when it's working out here?" he said.

It's like a couple of million people. You know what I mean? Those aren't even Hitler numbers. Like, on the network, on the network you need Stalin numbers. I mean, you need Stalin numbers. But on cable, you can get by with Hitler numbers. Is that tasteless?

Tim Minear skrev:"You can take (the original 'Alien Nation') a step forward and really do a show that encompasses the clash of civilizations, and the idea of a ghettoized minority," he said. "You can touch on racism, terrorism, assimilation, immigration. And there's room for satire."
Tim Minear skrev:"Twenty years (after 'Alien Nation'), TV as a whole has evolved, and you can explore issues and go deeper with subject matter than you ever could before," Minear said. "On cable, you can play with ambiguity. This is a place I want to be."
This is the The Wire with aliens. It’s taking elements of the slick, network “paranormal procedural” and dropping it into the streets of The Shield.

Därför att science fiction är för nördar och med nytt namn som påminner om syfilis hoppas man nå en bredare publik.

Syfilis är väl en ganska nördig sjukdom?
Tim Minear has inked a new two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV, solidifying his position as one of the top writer-producers at the studio where he has been based for more than 12 years.
Under the seven-figure pact, which kicks in after the end of Minear's current deal in June, he will join "Terriers," Fox 21's new comedic drama series for FX from creator/executive producer Ted Griffin and executive producer Shawn Ryan. Minear will serve as an executive producer and No. 2 to Ryan in running the buddy PI show.
